Here’s a new recipe for Gratin à l’alsacienne, made by our Solar Sister Francine with the SunGlobe parabolic solar cooker. Francine shares her passion, tips and advice for successful solar cooking.
Recipe suggested by : Francine – Solar oven: parabolic type, SunGlobe – Preparation time: 15 min – Cooking time: 2 h
Ingredients for 2 persons :
- 1 glass of milk
- 4 large potatoes, cut into strips
- 10 basil leaves, chopped
- 10 sprigs chopped chives
- 200 g Munster cheese, sliced
- 4 c.
tablespoons olive oil - 4 knobs butter
Preparing gratin à l’alsacienne
- Pour the olive oil into the bottom of the casserole dish, cover with half the potatoes, then the slices of Munster cheese.
- Garnish with chives and basil.
- Finish with the remaining potatoes.
- Add the butter and milk.
- Cook for 1 hour.
- To reduce the cooking juices and cook au gratin, cook for another 1 hour.
- Enjoy with garden vegetables and edible flowers (borage).
A quick reminder: cooking time always depends on the utensil used, its thickness and color.
The thinner the metal and the darker the color, the faster the cooking!
