Which solar oven to buy for my use?
Purchase of a solar oven
In solar cooking, there are 4 recognized types of solar ovens: solar panel ovens, solar vacuum tube ovens, box ovens and parabolic solar cooker.
For more information on the types of ovens you can see our dedicated page: Everything you need to know about solar ovens Depending on your needs, some ovens are more suitable.
Solar panel ovens
Panel ovens are more often selected for their quality/price ratio and work on the principle of soft cooking. The temperatures reached are more around 248°F and the cooking times are therefore longer than when you use your traditional oven. In terms of quantity, it depends mainly on the pot you are going to use with this cooker. For reminder, the dish used must have a lid, be dark color (ideally black) and thin as possible. So, with this type of solar ovens the cast iron plates are avoided.
Solar vacuum tube ovens
Solar vacuum tube ovens are an excellent price/power ratio. The vacuum tube used in this type of solar barbecues are specially designed to optimize the capture of the sun’s rays and allow a rapid rise in temperature and cook temperatures above 392°F. Their particularity is the baking dish that is all the time provided with and fits into the tube. We must therefore adapt to these dishes in length. On these types of best performing ovens on the market currently we have different sizes according to your need:
Solar box ovens
Box ovens are ovens that work on the same principle as your traditional oven. The air inside an enclosure closed by a door will heat up thanks to the sun’s rays. The temperature reached in this type of oven is between 266°F and 398°F. You can insert any type of dish as in your traditional oven. We offer on our website 3 types of solar oven boxes with different design and different sizes :
Parabolic solar cookers
Parabolic solar cookers are solar barbecues that are more intended to be used as a stove than as an oven. Indeed, the parabola deposited on this type of ovens will be heated by a hot spot under the dish and thus the heating will be rather comparable to your stove (induction plate, gas, vitroceramic, etc.). With this type of oven, it is easier to boil water or fry food in a frying pan. Conversely, it will be more difficult to make cakes or pies in this type of oven. The power of these solar barbecues depends on the diameter of the parabola. The larger is the diameter the higher the power will be. We offer 3 types of parabolic solar cookers for sale on our website and selected for their qualities, their manufacturing locations, and their different sizes:
