Four solaire multi-cuisson SunGood XL

The SUNGOOD XL multi-cooker solar cooker is ideal for family meals and gatherings of up to 8 people. Like the rest of the SUNGOOD® family, it uses the principle of concentrated solar energy: the sun’s rays are reflected by mirrors and concentrated on the collector for optimum temperature rise.

SUNGOOD XL lets you prepare meals with Suntube® XL: a large-capacity cooking tube that delivers temperatures from 180°C to 250°C for searing food with a rapid heat-up of around ten minutes.

With 700 watts of power and a large capacity, the SUNGOOD XL is the solar barbecue for your outdoor lifestyle, whether you’re at home or on the move. It adapts to all the most gourmet recipes: meat, fish, vegetables, breads, cakes, etc. Foldable and flameless, it’s easy to transport (forests, beaches, campsites, gardens…) and can be fitted to a van for quick and easy installation.

The benefits of solar cooking are growing every year!

In the current context, cooking with gas or electric is becoming increasingly expensive, given that 99% of households are equipped with either gas or electric cooking equipment.

If we take the case of baking bread, for example: with a conventional 3 kW electric oven and the price of kWh incl. VAT at €0.2516 in March 2024* (it was €0.2276 in 2023), it currently costs €0.5661 (if we count 15 minutes of oven preheating and 30 minutes of baking) to bake a 500g loaf of bread thanks to regulated prices. Baking just one 500-gram loaf of bread in an electric oven costs you 57 euro cents, whereas it costs you nothing to bake it using solar energy.

Counting 225 days with at least 3 hours of sunshine in France, solar baking of your daily bread saves you 0.57 EUR x 225 days = 114 euros / year, the price already paid for the SUNGOOD model in one year just to bake your daily bread. This kind of saving also means that the SUNGOOD 360° model will pay for itself in less than 3 years just by baking bread, bearing in mind that the price of kWh is set to continue rising over the coming weeks.

The main advantage of solar cooking is that it uses energy that is free and often available. Solar cooking does not depend on outside temperatures, but on the level of sunlight, and works just as well in summer as in winter. The most efficient solar cookers also work on cloudy days, making solar cooking a credible alternative to electric or gas cooking all year round.

And for professionals who are finding it increasingly difficult to cope with rising energy costs, Solar Brother is offering a range of “giant” Sunchef & Sunchef Pro solar ovens, manufactured in Carnoules (Var) from September. These ovens have already been installed in a number of establishments in France (campsites, inns, restaurants, etc.).
*This price corresponds to EDF’s regulated blue tariff in Base option for a 6 kVA meter (the most common options and powers in France).

About Solar Brother :

Founded by Gilles Gallo and Gatien Brault in 2016, Solar Brother develops a complete range of solar innovations for both the home and the outdoors, based on concentrated solar power technology: a technology as old as Archimedes and one that almost everyone experimented with a magnifying glass as a child. Based on this principle, Solar Brother has designed and distributed 12 innovative products to the general public, all geared towards autonomy and energy savings, including 3 Lépine awards. They can be found in almost 300 outlets in Europe, with a promising launch in Japan in 2020.

With the support of the Banque Publique d’Investissement, both for innovation and export, Solar Brother is now looking to accelerate the brand’s international development, particularly in Europe and the United States. Committed to minimizing its environmental impact, Solar Brother uses recycled and up-cycled materials, 0-waste packaging and French manufacturing. Solar Brother is recognized by the French government through the ESUS label.
